Vail Colorado Summer Wedding | Shaheen + Libby

Nashville Tennessee Summer Wedding

Libby and Shaheen celebrated their wedding day surrounded by friends and family in the mountains of Vail, Colorado.

It was a long-awaited celebration after postponing their wedding day due to COVID restrictions. But well worth the wait.

Libby and Shaheen truly soaked up the entire day, being present and at the moment with every person and conversation, not worried about a schedule or a photo opt.

My documentary style of photography focuses on the moments happening all around me on a wedding day. Like Libby’s moment with grandma before getting ready for the big day. Or Libby and Shaheen’s friend’s seeing them for the first time after their first look. The moment of Libby hugging her parents as they watched Shaheen dance with his mom. And all of the joy and celebration on the dance floor as they belted out to their favorite songs.

Those moments make up a wedding day, not the photo ops or the shot list. The moments and interactions are happening all around and with so many people.

I often tell my prospective clients that I feel there is too much focus on couples on their wedding day. Now I know that may not make sense because if they weren’t getting married, there wouldn’t be a wedding. Still, at times the hyper-focus on the couple can limit photographers from seeing all of the other people in the room. The people that each couple invites to celebrate with them are “their people.”

Documentary and photojournalistic wedding photography offer takes the focus off of the posed moments and places the focus on ALL of the moments. The 100’s of first looks like happen each wedding day, the memories being made in between the posed photos and take the pressure off of the wedding to be a photo shoot or a scheduled down to the minute.

It allows couples to live their wedding day however they wish, and have someone, me, show up and document how it unfolds.

Candid moments are the memories shared at the end of the day. They are genuine and honest, not fabricated for the sake of photos.

It is my honor and joy to be invited into and witness every wedding day; documenting the day honestly and candidly is the best way I can serve my Nashville, TN, wedding photography clients.
