Four Seasons Oahu Hawaii Wedding | Matty + Emily

Matty and Emily started as strangers, turned clients and turned friends. I am so grateful for their kindness and generosity during the chaos of COVID.

I met Matty and Emily for the first time taking their engagement photos in Colorado back in 2019. When the pandemic hit, they changed their plans for their wedding, postponing their Colorado wedding and instead deciding to celebrate in Hawaii the following year.

After 2 long years, we finally got to celebrate with their closest friends and family in Hawaii. Oahu has been a place Matty grew up visiting each summer and has held such a special place in Matty and Emily’s hearts; they hope one day they can live in Hawaii full time.

And as Emily said in her vows, hopefully, the place they will live one day, so she no longer has to hear Matty complain about Colorado being so 🤬 cold 😂

It was a day filled with fun, relaxation, and intentionality. I could feel the love that their friends and family shared and their excitement as they said I do 10 years in the making.

It was so fun to step back and document the day, no posing, simply living in the moment and photo journalistically telling the story of their love.

A day I felt so honored to be invited to. Matty and Emily insisted on sharing their day with me even after moving their wedding to Hawaii. They even offered to pay a portion of their coverage early to ease the burden of postponements due to covid. While that was unnecessary, the offer alone was a true testament to their kindness and generosity. In addition, Matty sent multiple pages of activity, food and lodging suggestions for our time in Hawaii.

Many of Matty’s friends and family shared stories of Matty’s intentionally and Emily’s kindness throughout the wedding day. I got to experience that myself throughout the 2 years of our growing friendship.

It was such a joy to candidly document their day and I can’t wait to capture more memories in Nashville, TN as a candid wedding photographer.
