Mary Rose and Sam’s winter wedding at Barr Mansion was a day I will never forget. There was something so incredibly special in the air that day – the stress was left behind, and everyone was there to celebrate.
That day Texas turned from winter to spring, welcoming 70-degree weather. The sun shined brightly through the trees illuminating the incredible landscape that Barr Mansion offers.
Barr Mansion is made up of 3 different buildings, a historic home, a beautiful glass reception hall and an open-air ceremony space. The 3 buildings make for an eclectic and beautiful wedding venue – offering such a wide variety of ceremony and reception locations. If you’re looking for a wedding venue in Austin that fits any style – Barr Mansion is the place for you. Mary Rose and Sam made the venue their own with stunning boho florals and rugs.
It was the perfect place to celebrate Mary Rose & Sam – which is exactly what all their friends and family did. When I walked into the venue, Mary Rose came up to me and said “take pictures of whatever you want” – it was a breath of fresh air I had needed. The freedom to capture the day in an honest way, no shot list to follow, no Pinterest board to recreated. Simply, capturing the day exactly as it went.
And boy was it an incredibly beautiful day. It was the perfect day because it was the day that all of Mary Rose & Sam’s friends and family were in one place at one time.
And let me tell you their friends and family were there to celebrate them – I have never heard a couple more complimented or praised before. Every single person who spoke to me shared their love for both of them. The best way I can describe the two of them is genuine, compassionate, kind, selfless and true to themselves.
Their wedding day was stress-free because they were free to be themselves. And that was the most beautiful thing to witness and have the honor of capturing.

Like when the Officiant forgot to exchange vows before exchanging the rings – Mary Rose had to whisper to him the correct order of the ceremony – which led to all kinds of laughter.
Or when Mary Rose’s dad brought out a 20-page print out of Czech wedding traditions – well what the internet thought Czech wedding traditions to be. He even went so far as to bring some of the traditions with them. He brought a can of soup for them to enjoy as their first meal as a married couple and he brought a plate and hammer – as the tradition says to break a plate tighter and clean it up together. Everyone was dying, laughing over his speech and antics.
Don’t miss out on all these incredible moments from Mary Rose & Sam’s wedding day.
