Cabin Engagement Session Steamboat, CO | Brittany + Michael

Brittany and Michael chose to document their engagement season in the cabin Michael and his family share in Steamboat Springs, CO.

Michael grew up visiting the cabin throughout his childhood. Brittany and Michael visited the cabin as a home away from home during the pandemic as remote work became the norm.

They shared stories of their time in Steamboat and Michael’s childhood memories at the cabin. And we wandered around the property with their 3 adorable rescue pups, who had a blast running and chasing their tennis balls around the property.

After exploring the property, we headed to a park nearby that had stunning views of Hahns Peak and the surrounding mountains. We adventured around the park, ran through the fields, and explored the stream nearby. As the sunset over the mountains, it honestly looked surreal; there is something so special about feeling so small amongst such vast mountain ranges.

It is the place where I feel connected to God, I am not sure how to describe that feeling or emotion, but it is a place I feel both the power and the beauty of creation.

Being in that environment while also doing what I love, a dream I had since graduating college, to have my own business and travel the country, made those emotions all the more vivid. Even just looking back through the images, those feelings come rushing back.

I truly feel so honored and blessed to be invited into so many unique celebrations and special seasons of peoples’ lives. It’s such an honor to document the moments that turn into people’s lifelong memories – from proposals and weddings to growing families.

While my approach to documenting these moments may not be the traditional wedding day approach of taking hundreds of posed photos – I genuinely believe the best way to honor a couple’s celebrations is to document their day/moments honestly and photojournalistically.

Those candid moments turn into memories – and it’s my honor to capture those moments as they unfold.
