We could not have asked for a more beautiful day for Kelly and Andrew’s winter elopement at Sapphire Point. The iconic point near Breckenridge, Colorado, offers stunning mountain and lake views and gorgeous evergreen trees.
Andrew and Kelly traveled from Florida to exchanged vows amongst the stunning mountains of Colorado. Andrew had been dreaming of a bigger wedding with family and friends, while Kelly had always wanted a smaller celebration. After being engaged a year and a half and with COVID not going anywhere, the two didn’t want to wait any longer to be married.
So the two spent their wedding weekend cozied up in a cabin, exploring the stunning scenery of Colorado and officially becoming the Denski’s.
They made the day their own – for Kelly and Andrew that meant exchanging vows in the mountains, sharing their first dance overlooking the lake and getting dressed in the snow!
Kelly braved the snow and cold in her stunning dress, which she had altered to create the perfect style for her. The dress initially had pink and purple details all throughout; Kelly removed them to create the most gorgeous elegant gown.
Andrew had not seen the dress up until the wedding day. Kelly and Andrew got ready in their cabin together and then met up with me in Breckenridge in the afternoon.
I helped Kelly into her gown while Andrew waited in the snow, and they shared a first look amongst the evergreen trees.
While they may have been getting married in an “untraditional” fashion, they still included some sweet traditional elements like a first look, first dance and vow exchange.
No matter how you chose to celebrate your wedding day, remember there are no rules. There is no tradition you have to follow; there is no requirement to do things a certain way – you do you. Traditional and untraditional elements can be intertwined to create the perfect day for you two, a day that celebrates you and your love!
Kelly and Andrew exchanged vows after a hike up to the top of the mountain overlook. It was the perfect secluded yet open spot, we had the entire place to ourselves.
Sapphire point is a popular spot; people often stop to take photos or hike around the park. Even though it’s a popular location, you can still find little private gems.
Couples often love sapphire point because it’s easily accessible, the parking lot isn’t too far from the main interstate, and the views aren’t a 5-mile hike up a mountain. While I would love to be hiking and taking couples on epic adventures, I know my hair and makeup wouldn’t be looking so hot at the top. Sapphire Point offers gorgeous views without all the hard work of hiking.
After exchanging their vows they rushed back to the car, frozen from standing in the snow all afternoon. Thankfully the sun kept us warm for the majority of the day, but poor Kelly didn’t have too much fabric on her dress for protection again the elements.
Kelly and Andrew had asked to exchange their vows at the end of the day, just in case they were too emotional to take photos afterwards.
So we started the day adventuring around in the snow, sharing their first dance and taking breaks warming up in the car. It was the perfect day, and I felt like I had two new friends by the end of it.
Andrew and Kelly play a game where they try and get songs stuck in each other’s heads. The game starts over when there is a big life event, so the game was ending that day. Andrew was trying to get a song stuck in Kelly’s head so he could take the lead, but Kelly hung on for the win.
It was such a lovely day capturing Andrew and Kelly officially become the Denski’s!
