Kelsey and Josh met me in Austin for their engagement session while they were in town for Thanksgiving. Josh and Kelsey are long-distance, with Kelsey in Fort Worth and Josh in South Carolina. Josh is in the military, and so they have spent their relationship traveling back and forth between Texas and South Carolina, with hopes to live together in Austin in a few years. Kelsey asked if we liked Austin right after I told her Stephen and I would be moving soon, we love Austin but don’t think we want to be here in the long run so it’s time to go on a new adventure in a new place!
Kelsey will be moving to be with Josh at the end of the year, and they can say goodbye to long-distance for a little while. Josh will be deploying soon, and their long-distance adventure will start again soon. I have so much respect for long-distance couples and even more respect for military couples. I can’t begin to imagine the added stress of a deployment, but I’m incredibly thankful for their service and sacrifice for our safety.
Kelsey and Josh wandered around the Texas Hill Country and the lakeside dock of a local Austin Park. The leaves had faded to orange and red, and the grassy field has transformed into a red hue, the fall colors finally started to show up in Texas. Sadly the weather didn’t get the memo. For some reason, the day of their engagement session was incredibly humid, which makes for an uncomfortable time when you’re wearing fall clothing.
We shared stories of their relationship, how Josh proposed, and how they picked out Kelsey’s gorgeous yellow diamond ring in New York City. It was so fun to get to hang out together even though we sweat to death.
