Leaving Kyle and Andrea’s engagement session I had a big grin on my face; I truly felt like I left with two new awesome friends.
We had only gotten to talk a few times via FaceTime before their session since they live in Chicago. So going into the session, I was excited to get to know them more. We joked, bantered, talked about life, dreams and everything in between during our time together. We explored Pedernales Falls, chased the sun over the hills and picnicked on the rocks.
My favorite part of the session was when they changed into their second outfit, one they said was “more us.” They pulled out their hiking boots, flannel shirts, Kyle’s go-to hat, Andrea’s prized coffee mug, her favorite blanket and oh and can’t forget the donuts. Andrea had shared how excited she was to capture what they love to do most, hike, hang out and of course who doesn’t love to eat donuts.
I love when engagement sessions turn into a date. It makes the session so much more fun for everyone. Kyle and Andrea were so relaxed because they were in their element. I want to capture couples in a way they want to remember themselves in 30 years. What they wore day to day, what activities they loved and the connection they share. While Pedernales certainly made for a beautiful location to do so, I want to create photos that transcend epic locations, perfectly selected outfits, and stuffy poses; I want the real, the raw and the YOU. I want you to feel as unapologetically yourself as possible no matter what that looks like, especially if it involves donuts and hiking, I’m in 🙋
